Lee Mathews: A Designer’s Designer
Posted on July 2, 2007 at 11:17 pm (PST) | Comments Off
For those days when you just want to dress up and be pretty, Lee Mathews will come in hand. Hailing from Sydney, Australia, Mathews creates clothing of such great quality that each piece is unlikely to be found anywhere else in the world or perfectly the same as one in the same size. The reason why is that Mathews and her staff hand-dye and hand-sew all of the clothing themselves, along with help from some of the locals. Inspired by treasured vintage pieces, she crafts each piece with so much care that it could never be mass-produced in a factory. The Delaunay Jacket is proof of her skills. The fine details, the fabric, the lovely chocolate color, all show care and respect for craftsmanship. One would expect something so precious to be hyperexpensive, but this wonderful jacket is actually on sale for $199.
