I’m absolutely crazy about coats right now. It’s still quite warm out, but I just can’t wait until fall comes and all the gorgeous coats come out! If you’re still looking for your perfect coat, try this Madchen Horn Section Coat, available for $348 from Anthropologie. What I’m completely obsessed with are the brass fasteners on the front. They’re so charming and cute-chic. Get ready for cold weather now, before all the great coat are gone!
Tory Burch Gold Kylie Dress

I just read both Bergdorf Blondes and The Debutante Divorcee, both by Vogue contributor and fashion maven in the making, Plum Sykes. Plum and her twin sister Lucy are from Britain, but they’re part of the late 20s, early 30s New York social set that includes Tinsley Mortimer, Lauren Davis, and all those fantastically glamorous women, many of whom had their names used in Plum’s books. Those fictional characters wore some astoundingly glamorous outfits, and this Tory Burch Gold Kylie Dress is pretty much the type of thing I imagined they would wear. Tory Burch herself is part of this in-crowd, so it makes sense that she knows how to dress them. The flirty silk shift comes covered in metallic gold paillettes, making it shimmer in the evening and dazzle in the daytime. It’s $750 from Active Endeavors, so order it today if, like me, you’re mesmerized by impossibly chic New York socialites. It’s beyond!
Welcome to the Jungle!

Another perfect little summer number, all wrapped up and ready to go. Haha, I made a pun! How very punny — ohmygod another one! I am the queen of comedy!
More to the point, this dress combines durability with excellent tailoring to create a great summer essential. Plus it has that signature Diane von Furstenberg wrap-look that is oh so chic. From the wild savanna to the concrete jungle, this versatile look can make for tons of different outfits. Dress it up with gold or dress it down with some chunky wood bangles — whatever you do, just remember that it’s $298 and dry clean only.
Summer Lovin’ Sale
Posted on June 12, 2007 at 11:12 am (PST) | Comments OffAs some, or most, or none of you know, net-a-porter is having a sale extravaganza!Â
Come now, don’t hide your overwhelming excitement.
I highly recommend you check out the editor’s picks, but here are some supplementary selections lovingly discovered through extensive browsing:
Chloe Beach Dress

What with my being LA-based, I have a certain penchant for elegant, billowy beach dresses. This dress is the quintessential foundation for creating all sorts of summer outfits — glam it up or hippy it out with whatever accessories strike your fancy. There’s nothing quite like frolicking across the sands dressed like a free-spirited beach Lolita. Just remember to pack some pepper spray in your tote should any Humberts make unwanted advances. Speaking of which…
Corto Moltedo Shopper

Okay, okay, so this tote isn’t particularly understated or so-hip-it-hurts, but I’ll be damned if it isn’t absolutely adorable! I’m usually not a big fan of monograms or conspicuous designer labels (yuck), but the retro font practically melts into the background as your eyes go straight to the similarly melting ice cream cone motif. It’s cute, functional, and almost ironic. This is probably the closest most fashionistas are going to get to actually consuming ice cream this season (or any season hereafter).
Thus does my first post conclude. It’s back to the sartorial seas for me — I’ll be sure to bring you more news from my travels. Perhaps something witty about shoes.
Dress Your Sims in H&M®!
Posted on June 5, 2007 at 6:18 pm (PST) | Comments OffNow I’m not much of a gamer, but I do love me some H&M® so I am quite intrigued by the latest feature to be added to The Sims 2. The Sims 2, the popular video game that allows gamers to create virtual characters and communities, is about to get a serious fashion upgrade!

Starting on Thursday, players of The Sims 2, The Sims 2 Special DVD Edition, or The Sims 2 Holiday Edition can dress up their Sims in cute dresses, tops, skirts, pants and other fabulous outfits, complete with accessories-all inspired by real H&M® designs. Using The Sims 2 H&M® Fashion Stuff, you can also design your very own H&M® inspired store and put on a Sims fashion show on your virtual catwalk. I have to say, I am impressed! I might have to get the thumbs exercising and check this out. Preorder The Sims 2 H&M® Fashion Stuff here.
