Super hot tennis star Maria Sherapova announced Wednesday that she will be fighting to defend her US Open Title in a collection of knockout custom-made dresses from Nike. The statuesque athlete modeled her new looks from the top of New York’s Rockefeller Plaza on Wednesday. Sherapova will be wearing classic black and white for her day matches and eye-catching red for evening. The dress she will be sporting for her first match is a confidently sexy red frock accented with more than 600 Swarovski crystals. Sherapova’s one-of-a-kind Nike / Swarovski stunner is not available for purchase but you can still add a little sass to your backhand with some of Nike’s other Sherapova - inspired designs.
A Common Thread Silk Print Dress

Comfort meets high fashion in this silk, retro-inspired, dropped waist dress. As if the bold pattern weren’t eye-catching enough, the delicate neckline and keyhole cutout add even more interest to this breezy number. I, for one, am not brave enough to wear this gorgeous dress bare-legged, but I’d pair it with fitted capris or matching leggings in a New York minute for a fun and flirty look during the end-of-summer months. Or pair it with jeans, as pictured on the model above, for a sheik and trendy fall look. Available in shades of bark or cranberry, this dress is a definite must-have.  Snag this flirty print dress at Nordstrom for only $280. http://shop.nordstrom.com.

Rachel Roy is current queen of all that is New York pretty and chic. She’s married to a music/clothing mogul, she has an unbelievably stylish wardrobe, and her eponymous upscale fashion line is being bought up by every luxury store in the country. She’s the unapologetically girly-girl with an indescribable New York cool. She’s the new Kimora Lee Simmons, except multiply more refined. Get a piece of the action with this Rachel Roy Layla Plaited Strap Dress, $720 from Net-A-Porter. The goddess draping has a certain Sophia Kokosalaki quality to it, while the easy silhouette is very Stella McCartney. A fabulous dress for under $750? Now that is cool.

Eek! I have found what is fundamentally the prettiest little black dress of the year! Zac Posen Nationale Dress is the perfect combination of ethereal, romantic pretty and downtown, New York edge. It’s just perfectly sugary sweet, like a Sour Patch Kid! Get it from eLuxury for $4500.
Tory Burch Gold Kylie Dress

I just read both Bergdorf Blondes and The Debutante Divorcee, both by Vogue contributor and fashion maven in the making, Plum Sykes. Plum and her twin sister Lucy are from Britain, but they’re part of the late 20s, early 30s New York social set that includes Tinsley Mortimer, Lauren Davis, and all those fantastically glamorous women, many of whom had their names used in Plum’s books. Those fictional characters wore some astoundingly glamorous outfits, and this Tory Burch Gold Kylie Dress is pretty much the type of thing I imagined they would wear. Tory Burch herself is part of this in-crowd, so it makes sense that she knows how to dress them. The flirty silk shift comes covered in metallic gold paillettes, making it shimmer in the evening and dazzle in the daytime. It’s $750 from Active Endeavors, so order it today if, like me, you’re mesmerized by impossibly chic New York socialites. It’s beyond!
