Anthropologie Go-See Halter Dress

A few days ago, I saw the movie Evening. And during the movie, I fell in love…with a dress. A black, floral, square-neck halter, decidedly 50’s but absolutely beautiful. It was a dress that transcends time and trends. It made Claire Danes look effortlessly chic; appropriate for the WASPy rehearsal dinner to which she wore it but also for a night out in the West Village, where her character lived. As I was perusing Anthropolgie today, I could barely believe it. It was the dress–or something like it. And it was cheap. Of course, it isn’t H&M cheap and certainly not Forever 21 cheap. But for an Anthropologie dress, the prices don’t get much better. If only I had Hugh Dancy at my side, things would certainly be looking up.
An Eye on the Prize

I once had the privilege of watching how Catherine Malandrino works in her studio. She pays great attention to each detail, and, with a careful eye, sculpts wonderful clothing out of fabric and air. This Ribbed Waist Knit Dress is a good item to have for cloudy days. This gorgeous diamond knit won’t be found on an item in another store, because it was created by the designer herself. Although this dress is knitwear, it is made out of 90% viscose and 10% elite, which guarantees that it will be superlight. This blanc, innocent dress is valued at $425.
Chris Benz Layered Silk Dresses

Emerging designer Chris Benz seems to have everyone in a tizzy with his new line of resort ware for summer 2007. This dress is just one of many Chris Benz layered silk dresses available. The pastel hues are pretty and summery, and the dress is light as a feather. The frocks remind me of an ice cream sundae with layers upon layers of different flavors, all blending with one another in one fancy dish. In a word the dresses are scrumptious!  I can’t wait to see what Benz comes up with next!
