If only we could choose what we inherit from our parents, the world would look even brighter—and so would my eyes. As far back as I can remember, I have battled with under eye circles, and unless I smoked out my eyes so that a veil of pigment detracted attention away from the dark rings under my eyes, I’d get the, “You look tired;” and, “did you sleep well?” Contrary to what many people think, other factors besides stress and sleep deprivation can cause under eye circles. Poor blood circulation and hyperpigmentation, which are often hereditary conditions, can also cause skin under the eye to take on a bluish-tint. Luckily, there are treatments that can help and that don’t necessarily have to involve surgery. I’ve been a longtime fan of Dr. Perricone’s Eye Area Therapy with NTP Complex and DMAE ($50; at Sephora). This super emollient hydrating cream contains Alpha Lipoic Acid, a powerful antioxidant, and overtime, significantly reduces the appearance of dark circles and puffiness. With frequent use, I have seen a remarkable difference. Dark circles are not nearly as obvious, skin is tighter and the puffiness underneath my eyes has diminished completely.  This stuff really works—and keeps those unjustified tired comments at bay.

too-faced Stay Put

You know how, come three o’clock, you have that pesky, oily, horizontal line on your lid  where your painstakingly perfect eye shadow should be?

I know that three o’clock line. Oh, I know it all too well.

But now three o’clock can represent a whole host of other irritating mid-day feelings, because your expertly applied eye makeup ain’t going anywhere. Not with Too-Faced shadow bases! Choose either a soft shimmer–adorably named First Base–or if matte’s where you’re at, try their Second Base–a soft, subtle yellow which mightily clings to any flat color. Or, at a mere 15 bucks a pop for something which will last you at least 4 months, get both!

Now, with that gorgeously made-up face, fetch yourself a venti Macchiato and get back to work!

Manhattan Saks Shoe Department To Expand

saks-shoes Manhattan Saks Shoe Department To Expand

The shoe department at Saks Fifth Avenue in Manhattan is getting so big, it’s even gaining its own government-approved zip code: 10022-SHOE. As of mid-August, the fabulous shoes that are now on the fourth floor are moving up to the eighth floor. Choos, Manolo’s, Louboutin’s and more will have a bigger and more grandiose 17,500-square-foot home, fittingly called 10022-SHOE (8,500 is for selling and 9,000 is for storage).

Chic shoppers will be able to take an express elevator into the salon, which is said to have more of a residential feel where shoppers are encouraged to interact with one another. Hand-blown glass will serve as walls and chandeliers will provide light. Do I smell a trip to New York, ladies? (source)
