One thing that has always drawn me to Anna Sui is the shiny, happy faces that are in all fashion shows and ads for the brand.  I know that bright blush is Sui’s trademark look, and I like that she portrays her own personal style and preferences in a consistent manner.  Additionally, Sui always makes sure that the colors of fabric flatter many skin tones.  This ivory silk kissing leaves dress is sure to make any skin tone glow, whether you’re an “autumn” or a “spring”!  Its beautiful texture and embroidery ensure that this frock is feminine and lovely.  The baby doll cut keeps it sexy and modern by showing off your legs.

Anna Sui Leaves Print Mini Dress

I’m down for vintage-inspired nostalgia and digging through the $1 bins at Jet Rag on Sundays, but this Anna Sui silk mini dress with lace crochet neck screams nightgown in a way that I’m not prepared to wear in public. On sale for $288 at Saks, would you wear it for 1/10 ($48) the original price?

Anna Sui printed top

Anna Sui is always a fun designer.  I love how her models are always blushing brightly as they strut down the catwalk in clothes that are interesting and wearable.  While she is one of the brilliant designers of our time, Sui is never unrealistic about what kinds of things real women will wear.  For her summer 2007 show, she favored a lot of pirate-themed clothing.  I think that this printed top is both unique and accessible.  It would work on a ship with a peg-leg and a parrot on your shoulder, or with a denim mini and some sleek flats while out on the town.  Unlike a lot of designer pieces, I can see any woman, not just size double-zero supermodels, feeling comfortable in this flattering blouse on a warm summer evening.  For a transition into autumn, I might even try it with one of the chic hats Sui favored so much in the show!

282-i1-1 Anna Sui Artist Tees

The one thing better than a plain white tee is a plain white tee with some awesome artwork. Which is why I am totally loving Anna Sui’s limited edition T-shirts featuring sixteen different rocking designs from some of her favorite artists. Check out all the designs and artist backgrounds on Sui’s website and snatch one up before they’re gone!

Lilac and Lace

The thing about most new designers is that they tend to emulate existing styles rather than crafting their own identities.  Such is the case with Milly, a New York designer/label launched in 2000.  She has some good ideas, but I don’t really see any originality.  All her clothes seem to scream "ANNA SUI" or "MARNI" and even occasionally "EARLY 2000’s PRADA" rather than, well, "Milly."

Nonetheless, this top is cute, the color (lilac) is fairly unique, and…well…not every designer can say that she’s had the president of Hermes personally request that she go work for them in Paris ("gasp").   All in all, she has potential.
