Valentino at the Oscar’s

In honor of the impending retirement of Valentino, a man whose design empire has become one of the cornerstones of high fashion, I thought it only fair to showcase one of his most memorable modern designs. This gown, worn by the statuesque Cate Blanchett to the Oscar’s, captures such a classic look, while being anything but boring. The fabric is draped to perfection, the broach adds the perfect amount of sparkle and the yellow gives the dress a dare-to-be different flare. While this dress is nothing new it definitely deserves a second look and is my little salute to Valentino — one of fashion’s greats. To view some of his fabulous designs visit the Valentino web site. The best part is the site fails to give any prices so feel free to fantasize without having to have bad thoughts of using that rent money for couture.  Â
Love it or hate it: Nanette Lepore Roulette Wheel Jacket
Posted on August 31, 2007 at 3:34 pm (PST) | Comments Off
This jacket is interesting. On the one hand, it could be considered trendy with the fluffy cropped sleeves and the bold pattern. The interesting neckline and large buttons add a sort of flair that you can’t get from your average pea-coat. On the other hand, the pattern seems almost overwhelming and the cut a little unflattering. Although I do like the jacket in the charcoal color better than camel, I’m not sure that it’s something I would get much use out of. And I definitely know I wouldn’t want to experiment with new styles for such a high price tag. What do you think?
Teri Hatcher in Badgley Mishka

Teri Hatcher stood out from a sea of predictable red carpet looks in this whimsical Badgley Mishka polka-dot dress that balanced sophistication with playfulness. The tea length and sweetheart neckline are so flattering on any body, calling attention to all the right places and masking the not-so-right ones. When Hatcher isn’t on Wysteria Lane, the Desperate Housewife will be showing off her modeling skills as the newest face of ultra chic designer Badgley Mishka. While the dress is fabulous Hatcher actually stripped down to her designer skivvies for some of the ads!
George Clooney For President!

I absolutely love this "George Clooney 2008" tee Lisa Rinna was spotted wearing. The Dancing with the Stars stunner was sporting the super fun tee by Sir Alistair Rai while out and about in LA. It doesn’t quite carry the same political message as the new Hillary Clinton tops but George Clooney is definitely a candidate who, partisanship aside, we can all get behind. The youthful shirt can be found for $48.00 at Rinna’s fabulous boutique Belle Gray. While it my not give you street cred as a political aficionado this shirt is a must have for any fashionista who is confident enough to not have to prove themselves with an uber-serious message across their chest. Â
Love it or hate it: Stella McCartney Oversized check cape

cape- –noun
1. a sleeveless garment of various lengths, fastened around the neck and falling loosely from the shoulders, worn separately or attached to a coat or other outer garment.
So I’m usually a huge fan of Stella McCartney. Her comfy-yet-feminine styles draw me in like a moth to an adorable boho-inspired lamp! The thing is I’m not sure about this plaid-looking cape she’s got going on here. It might be cool if I was looking for something to wear by the fire while camping, but I’m not sure that anyone could get away with wearing it in an urban setting. Plus, I know gray is a great color for fall, but for some reason the demure pink and charcoal just remind me of a Sunday-school teacher. What do you think?
