armani Armani Exchange Logo Riding Hat

You don’t need a bad hair day to don this Armani Exchange Logo Riding Hat.  Its bold color and novelty shape make it an accessory to reach for on virtually any day.  So instead of always reaching for your favorite handbag or necklace to add interest to an outfit, next time reach for this less conventional way of adding pizzazz.  Of course, when you do have a bad hair day, it won’t hurt to have this sporty cotton and wool accessory to ease your pain.

Jennifer Behr Leather Turban Headwrap

Posted on July 5, 2007 at 10:54 am (PST) | Comments Off

behr turban

I was at H&M the day after the launch of the H&M<3Kylie collection but didn’t purchase the silver turban she was seen rocking in the adverts. This was sort of a mistake, because when I returned in June, they were completely sold out and I really (sort of?) wanted one. Luckily for me and any fashionistas hesitant to fully commit to the turban look, Jennifer Behr has a turban-y leather headband made from French (patent?) lambskin with a twist. It’s not quite Prada, but it is a fun spin on a too precious trend. Try it for $142.

Makins Hats Factory Sale

makinshats2 Makins Hats Factory Sale

The one summer staple I have yet to procure is an affordable straw fedora. Chic for the city streets or a weekend beach trip, the fedora is the sexy alternative to the matronly wide brimmed straw version abundant in the South. I was so excited to see that Makins Hats, worn by the likes of Madonna, Queen Latifah, Snoop Dog and Brad Pitt, was having a month-long summer sale at their New York factory. Their Spring, Summer and Fall 2007 collections are on sale until July 18. And with the straw hats priced from $25 to $50 (a HUGE markdown), I may be able to pick up more than one.

 Tip Your Hat

Tracy Watts, $225

Spring fashion is giving a well deserved nod to the hat, which has been overlooked for years it seems until now.  Perhaps that Fall Marc Jacobs show (a preview of trends to come) shifted the fashionistas into gear. Hats seem to be roaming the streets of New York these days, topping off street style looks left and right. Understandably so, it’s a clever and classic piece that brings an outfit together. Check out these by one of my favorite milliner’s Eugenia Kim:
